A Process Grounded in Trust

How We Work

We understand that structural concerns can be stressful and hard to navigate.

That’s why we built our approach to deliver more than just plans. Our process is designed to meet you where you are: whether you're evaluating a home before purchase or planning a structural repair. We offer clarity, objectivity, and professional partnership every step of the way.

  • 1. Book Your Service

Getting started is easy. Whether you're booking a structural inspection, requesting a design consult, or preparing for permitting, the first step is scheduling online or by phone. We’ll confirm your goals and prepare accordingly.

  • 2. On-Site Assessment and Consultation

Your first visit sets the foundation for everything that follows. A licensed engineer will walk through your home inside and out, assess crawlspace and drainage conditions, and take the time to understand your concerns.

    This may include:

    • Foundation & Drainage Assessments (ideal before home purchase)
    • Design Consultations (for existing issues and long-term planning)
    • Retaining wall and slope reviews

You’ll receive a written letter or report outlining observed conditions, improvement options, estimated construction budgets, and a step-by-step outline to move toward design and permitting.

  • 3. Design Development and Documentation

Once you’re ready to move forward with design, we get right to work.

    This includes:

    • Structural calculations and plan sets
    • Optional geotechnical coordination
    • Permitting-ready documentation

At project handoff, you’ll receive everything needed to submit plans, select a contractor, and proceed to construction. We also provide a vetted shortlist of contractor recommendations, and we’re happy to review bids and offer input.

  • 4. Construction Support and Oversight

Even after permitting, we stay close to the work.

haushepherd offers continued support throughout construction, including:

    • Site visits to confirm ground conditions
    • Responses to contractor questions
    • Structural observation and post-installation checks

We’re here to ensure the intent of the design is upheld and that you’re never left in the dark.

“haushepherd was awesome. Great to work with and took the time to explain things to the contractor to ensure the project came out great. Totally worth the cost to have an independent engineer. Highly recommend.”
